Original Melody is Iceland´s premier hip-hop group. The crew consists of Fonetik Simbol, the producer and dj of the group, who has produced for the likes of Chino XL, Sabaac Red, Shawn Jackson, Blu and a slew of up-and-coming underground artists. Three emcees accompany Fonetik -- Immo, Shape, and S.Cro. Each of which is defined by a unique style: there’s Immo (1985 a.k.a Ivar Schram), the oldest of the four, characterized by his flowing red hair and his slurry slang-heavy style of straight spit, S.cro (1986 a.k.a. Ragnar Tómas Hallgrímsson), defined by his melodic and unchained style of flowing, Shape (1987 a.k.a Thór Elíasson), the youngest, most notable for his fluid forms and raspy voice and Fonetik Simbol (1986, a.k.a. Helgi Pétur Lárusson) - the man with the music, utilizing various analogue instruments to produce the unique sound of Original Melody.

The band released its debut album, Fantastic Four, in April 2006 and followed their first release by securing airplay on various radio stations and playing a number of gigs around the Reykjavik area. The new album, Back & Fourth, is set to be released on october 1st and the band´s first music video will be debuted 2 weeks earlier. Recently, O.M. has been creating a buzz to promote their new album and the crew has had songs featured on some popular Icelandic t.v. shows and movies.

Original Melody aims to create quality hip-hop music that is down to earth and steers clear of any materialistic overtones.

Original Melody has opened for such acts as Raekwon, Afu-Ra, The Pharcyde, Guru from Gangstarr (R.I.P.), Prozack Turner and other well-known hip-hop artists.

OriginalMelody has a strong following in Iceland and is currently seeking to extend its fanbase overseas to the US and Europe.
