Bio

Driving Wheel was formed in 2007 by Ryan Tomlinson and Jeremy Hunsaker, who shared a love for blues and gritty, boozy rock and roll.  Playing festivals, fairs, bars, clubs, basketball courts, and anywhere else they could find an electrical outlet, the band honed their craft as most all bands do; by playing as much, as often and as loudly as possible. The first record was recorded live at various shows between July and October of 2007, released in December of 2007; the record is now out-of-print, and will not be re-issued.

Ryan and Jeremy have also played many acoustic shows as a duo, expressing a different aspect of their songwriting and their varied influences; ranging from Delta-style Blues, British Invasion Rock n' Roll, Sun Records, the “Alternative Explosion” of the 90s, Stax/Volt Soul, so-called “Outlaw Country,” Psychedelic, and any and all points in between. Due to having such a diversified collection of musical influences, the assimilated vision of their music incorporates elements of all types of American Music. During live performances, the band effortlessly moves from hard blues to expansive, improvisational jams to straight-up rock and roll with a touch of twang.

Recording on the band's first studio album Better Late Than Never (2011) commenced in June of 2009. Recorded during breaks between the band's live shows at various studios, living rooms, basements, rehearsal halls, sound checks, and concerts throughout the latter part of 2009 and early 2010, the record showcases a raw, embryonic stage of the band's songwriting and performing.

The band's first official release, "Calm Before the Storm", was mixed and mastered by Andy De Rosa of Mojo Records, Ltd., and will be released in October, 2010.
